By 2045, the Trust aims to have restored the Aorangi Forest and its surrounds to the state where the indigenous forest, coastal, and marine ecosystems are healthy, and its streams, rivers, and wetlands are clean and abundantly inhabited, and provide ecosystem services that benefit the rural and urban economies of South Wairarapa and offer places for recreation for the wider Wellington region.
Our goal is to continue to support and encourage the upcoming generations through education and hands on projects.
We aim to encourage Little Blue Penguins back along the coast through providing safe and secure nesting boxes and targeting predators.
In conjunction with key partners we undertake monitoring of flora and fauna including predator populations to assess the impacts of 1080.
Our trapping goal is to reduce re-infestation of the 1080 area and the flow of predators from the forest into surrounding land.
